Why the shape actually matters
When you’re controlling how glass bends or cools, “close enough” isn’t good enough. If your lamp is too short? You get cold spots that ruin your piece. Too long? You’re risking thermal shock to the glass or, worse, overheating your furnace walls. We work down to the millimeter. This means you can pack more heating power into a tiny footprint without blocking your airflow or getting in the way of the glassware. It just fits.
The trade-offs (The stuff you need to know)
Here’s the thing: when you change the length and shape, you change the watt density. If we give you a shorter tube with high wattage, you’re getting intense heat in a very small area. It’s great for fast ramp-up times. But, you’ve got to make sure your wiring and power supply can handle that extra current. And a heads-up—since the filament runs hotter in those shorter tubes, keep a close eye on your cooling fans. You don’t want your sockets burning out because of a lack of breeze.
Getting it installed without the drama
