The Inside Story
We went with 400V because it lets you run longer tubes without pushing the current through the roof. That means you can use thinner wire and you won’t get those annoying voltage drops along the line. The lamp is 300mm long and hits 2500W, which packs a ton of heat into a small space. It warms up fast and gives you precise control over a tight area. Just make sure your fixture matches the voltage and wattage. If it doesn’t, you’re risking an overheated socket and a shortened life for the lamp.
What It’s Made Of
The quartz tube is tough—it handles sudden temperature shifts without breaking a sweat, so it stays steady even when you flip the switch on and off a lot. Inside, the halogen cycle keeps the brightness consistent over time. It actually redeposits evaporated tungsten back onto the filament, so the lamp stays strong. The R7s base is simple—just two pins. It snaps in quickly and sits perfectly inside the reflector. If you already have an R7s-based heater, this is a straight swap. No rewiring. No messing with the fixture.
Why It Works Where You Need It
When you’re out in the gazebo, you want heat that lands on the floor and the seats—not the ceiling. Infrared cuts right through the air and delivers warmth right where people are. It’s powerful, no question. But that wattage also means you need to plan for cooling. The enclosure and mounting have to manage airflow so things don’t get too hot. Set it up with the right fusing and a housing that keeps the weather out, and it’ll run dependably season after season.
